after trying kale crisps at the whole foods stall at the hampton court food festival i have been meaning to give them a whirl myself. so i thought they'd be the perfect thing to test our new oven...
you'll need:
- kale (i couldn't find any so opted for spring greens)
- wok oil - or olive oil
- salt
- pepper
pre heat your oven to 175 degrees. start by cutting the bottoms off your greens so you are just left with leaves. then wash thoroughly- no one wants beasties in their crisps! shake off any excess water and cut into 3-4cm strips- no need to be too uniform. transfer to a big bowl and drizzle over a little oil- i'd say approx 1-2 tablespoons. season with salt & pepper- don't over do the salt.
next line a baking tray with grease proof or parchment paper & spread the coated strips onto the tray. careful not to let them overlap unless you want chewy ones... you may need to do this part in batches. have a look at my babies cooking...
they take about 5-10 mins but keep an eye on them as they burn pretty quick! they're ready to eat straight away. just invite your friends to try! enjoy xxx
yum
